GYM CLASS! [Mar. 2nd, 2009|02:01 am]
Weight Watchers for College Kids

My Weight Watchers leader always stresses that you shouldn't have to pay to exercise, which I agree with, but a gym membership does seem to have its perks.
Through my employer I can join a single 24 Hour Fitness gym for around $20 per month which I hear is a good deal, but is it worth it?
Do gym memberships make sense, or is free fitness the way to go?
And, I have always been curious what types of people are at the gym. People like me, relatively overweight trying to get fit, fit people trying to stay fit, or people that are trying to achieve epic feats? I am talking about regular gyms, not something like Curves. Do people usually keep to themselves? Or do you find yourself being scrutinized by other members?

I am ever so curious.

About gyms. So far in my life, I've been a member of the YMCA and the gym at my school. But I've heard when joining a gym, you should go look around before (and if you ask, they'll show you around) and see how comfortable. At college, the gym is filled with all different sorts of people and different sorts of bodies. But I know that if I was a member at a gym with lots of latex and hairspray, I would be too nervous to ever go.

Honestly, I like gyms. Exercise outside is good, but I like how gyms provide a measurable amount of exercise. "I ran this far and burned this many calories" etc. And especially during winter. I think you should check it out.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
